Bently Nevada
Bently Nevada 3500/15 Description
The Bently Nevada™ 3500/15 is a series of half-height AC and DC power supply modules specifically
designed for the 3500 Machinery Protection System, serving as the core power source to ensure
stable operation of other modules in the 3500 rack. It must be installed in the designated slots on the
left side of the 3500 rack, supporting flexible configuration of one or two power supplies (in any
combination of AC and DC types). Notably, a single 3500/15 power supply is capable of powering a
full rack of 3500 modules, while dual power supplies can be deployed for redundancy—with the
module in the lower slot acting as the primary power supply and the upper-slot module as the
backup. This redundant design ensures that removing or inserting either power supply does not
disrupt the rack’s operation, enhancing system reliability.

The 3500/15 series offers three main power supply options to adapt to different industrial power
environments:
Universal AC Power Supply: Paired with a universal AC Power Input Module (PIM), it accepts a wide
input voltage range—85 to 264 Vac rms (non-hazardous areas) or 85 to 250 Vac rms (hazardous areas)
—with a nominal voltage of 110 to 220 Vac and an input frequency of 47 to 63 Hz.
High Voltage DC Power Supply: Used with a High Voltage DC PIM, it supports an input voltage range
of 88 to 140 Vdc.
Low Voltage DC Power Supply: Matched with a Low Voltage DC PIM, it accommodates an input
voltage range of 20 to 30 Vdc.
It is important to note compatibility limitations: The universal AC power supply and its PIM are not
compatible with legacy high/low voltage AC power supplies and PIMs; similarly, high/low voltage DC
power supplies and their PIMs are incompatible with legacy high/low voltage DC power supplies and
PIMs.
The 3500/15 converts the wide-range input voltages into stable voltages suitable for other 3500
modules. It features built-in protection mechanisms: under-voltage conditions do not damage the
supply or PIM, while over-voltage triggers the PIM’s fuse to open, preventing system damage. A
front-panel "Supply OK" LED provides real-time status indication, lighting up when the power supply
operates normally for easy visual monitoring.
In terms of physical and environmental adaptability, the 3500/15 power supply module has
dimensions of 120.7 mm × 50.8 mm × 251.5 mm (4.75 in × 2.0 in × 9.9 in) and weighs 1.39 kg (3.06
lb). It operates within a temperature range of -30 °C to +65 °C (-22 °F to +150 °F) and can be stored
at -40 °C to +85 °C (-40 °F to +185 °F), withstanding up to 95% non-condensing humidity—making it
suitable for harsh industrial environments.
The module complies with multiple international standards, including FCC Part 15 (electromagnetic
interference requirements), EU EMC Directive 2014/30/EU (per EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4), EU
LV Directive 2014/35/EU (per EN 61010-1 for electrical safety), and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. It also
holds hazardous area approvals, such as cNRTLus certification for Class I, Division 2 (Groups A-D, T4)
and Class I, Zone 2 (AEx/Ex nA nC ic IIC T4 Gc; AEx/Ex ec nC ic IIC T4 Gc), as well as ATEX/IECEx
certification for II 3 G (Ex nA nC ic IIC T4 Gc; Ex ec nC ic IIC T4 Gc), enabling deployment in both
general and hazardous industrial locations (when installed per drawings 149243 or 149244).
Additionally, it meets maritime certifications like DNV GL and ABS rules, expanding its application
scope to marine and offshore scenarios.
