Basic Product Identification
The AI830A (Product ID: 3BSE040662R1) is an analog input module developed by ABB, part of the
S800 I/O product line for the ABB Ability™ System 800xA. It is specifically designed as an RTD input
module, dedicated to measuring temperature via resistive elements (RTDs) with 3-wire connections,
and requires all connected RTDs to be isolated from ground. The module supports linearization and
conversion of temperature data to Centigrade or Fahrenheit directly on-board, eliminating the need
for additional processing by upper-level controllers.

∆R/100); Terr°C = Rerr / (R0 × TCR); Terr°F = Terr°C × 1.8), and it provides high noise rejection (CMRR
>120 dB at 50/60 Hz with 10Ω load; NMRR >60 dB at 50/60 Hz).
Isolation & Electrical Ratings: Features groupwise isolation from ground, with a rated insulation
voltage of 50 V and dielectric test voltage of 500 V a.c. Power dissipation is 1.6 W, with current
consumption of 70 mA ( +5 V Modulebus), 50 mA ( +24 V Modulebus), and 0 mA ( +24 V external).
Supervision & Status Indication: Monitors inputs for open-circuit, short-circuit, and grounded sensors.
Equipped with front LEDs (Fault, Run, Warning) for status indication, including module error, module
warning, and individual channel errors (8 channels).
Physical Dimensions & Weight: Measures 45 mm in width, 102 mm in depth (111 mm including
connector), and 119 mm in height, with a net weight of 0.22 kg (0.49 lbs.). It has a protection class of
IP20 (IEC 60529) and uses keying code "AF".
