Overview
The FBM205 is a high-availability 0–20 mA DC analog I/O interface module engineered for mission-
critical industrial applications, featuring four redundant analog input channels and four redundant
analog output channels. All input and output channels are galvanically isolated from adjacent
channels and ground, delivering robust protection against electrical interference, cross-channel faults,
and ground loops to ensure uncompromised signal integrity in harsh operational environments.
To achieve full redundancy at the Fieldbus Module (FBM) level, two FBM205 units operate as a
redundant pair, with field-side I/O connections consolidated to a single shared termination assembly.
Each module in the pair independently maintains its assigned output values and reports the real-time
observed input data, creating a fail-safe architecture where there is no single point of failure for field
I/O connectivity. Complementing this hardware redundancy, control software integrates redundant
analog input and output blocks that cross-validate input readings and output commands using data
from both modules in the pair, further ensuring operational reliability and data accuracy.
Likewise, the FBM205 is fully electrically compatible with standard HART signals, enabling seamless
integration with HART-enabled transmitters and actuators for advanced device diagnostics, remote
configuration, and enhanced process visibility—all while preserving the module’s core redundant
functionality for critical control loops.

Standard Design
FBM205 has a rugged extruded aluminum exterior for physical protection of the circuits. Enclosures
specially designed for mounting the FBMs provide various levels of environmental protection, up to
harsh environments, per ISA Standard S71.04.
