Products Overview
The FBM242 Discrete Output Module features 16 discrete output channels, designed for external
power sourcing and rated up to 2 A at 60 V dc. Compatible termination assemblies (TAs)
accommodate diverse load requirements: discrete outputs for 2 A/60 V dc loads, relay outputs (120 V
ac/125 V dc or 240 V ac), and relay outputs integrated with power distribution and fusing capabilities.
Each output channel is fully isolated from other channels and ground, ensuring reliable operation and
signal integrity.
Functioning as a critical interface between the control processor and field devices, the module
transmits electrical output signals seamlessly while supporting ladder logic within its digital I/O
application program. Additionally, it offers a Fail-Safe Configuration option for outputs, enhancing
operational safety and system resilience in industrial control environments.

Fieldbus Communication Capability
A Fieldbus Communications Module or Control Processor interfaces with the redundant 2 Mbps
module Fieldbus utilized by FBMs. The FBM242 is designed to accept communications from either
path (A or B) of this redundant 2 Mbps Fieldbus. In the event that one path fails or undergoes a
system-level switchover, the module seamlessly continues communication via the active path,
ensuring uninterrupted data transmission for industrial control operations.
