The Honeywell 10024/H/F is a dual-interface Enhanced Communication Module (ECM) designed for
seamless integration into the FSC (Fail-Safe Control) system, primarily serving three core
communication purposes: internal communication between redundant FSC Central Parts, external
data exchange with distributed control systems (DCSs), and connections to peripherals like FSC user
stations or printers. As a critical communication bridge, it relieves the FSC central processor of
communication tasks via its dedicated on-board processor and memory, ensuring optimal system
responsiveness and reliability in mission-critical industrial environments (e.g., oil & gas, chemical
processing).
The module features a two-part architecture—comprising a main board (10024/1/1) and two distinct
communication interfaces—to support diverse connectivity needs. It also includes robust software
capabilities, such as compatibility with multiple communication protocols (FSC-FSC, ModBus
RTU/H&B, RKE3964R), sequence-of-event recording (SER), and report generation, making it adaptable
to complex industrial control workflows. Additionally, it adheres to strict safety and compliance
standards (CE, UL, TÜV) to meet the requirements of safety-related applications up to AK 8 (per DIN V
19250).

Hardware Protection & Stability
The 10024/H/F adopts a dual-part modular design, with a right-side main board (10024/1/1) and left-
side dual interfaces. The main board has a dedicated communication processor, 8 Mbit flash memory
(supports EPROMs like 27C512), and jumpers (J1/J2 for COM number, J3 for program source, J4/J5 for
EPROM type). It occupies 8 TE (8 HP) horizontal and 3 HE (3U) vertical rack space, operates on 5 Vdc
(500 mA current, <50 mV p-p ripple), and works in 0°C-60°C, ≤95% RH (non-condensing)
environments.
It integrates two interfaces: The H-interface (RS-422 with readback) is for internal redundant Central
Part communication, with 2 Mbaud baud rate, 1.5 m max cable length (Belden 9728/8314), male 9-pin
connector (pins 1=GND, 2=-TxC, etc.), no galvanic isolation, and self-test for fault-triggered Central
Part shutdown. The F-interface (Tri-State RS-232C) is for external communication (user stations/DCS),
with >6 kV galvanic isolation, up to 38.4 kbaud (15 m/10 m cable), female 9-pin connector (pins
1=DCD, 2=-RxD, etc.), and a watchdog circuit.
For integration, it needs a system bus (7-SBUS/12-SBUS/17-SBUS) jumper removed, supports FSC
software ≥2.78f, meets EMC standards (EN 50081-2/EN 50082-2), and must not be hot-swapped.
