Overview

The TU811V1 (article number 3BSE013231R1) is a compact Module Termination Unit (MTU) designed 

by ABB for the ABB Ability™ System 800xA® S800 I/O platform. As a passive termination component, 

its primary role is to facilitate secure connection between field wiring and compatible S800 I/O 

modules, while also supporting ModuleBus distribution and I/O module address configuration. It is 

optimized for space-efficient industrial installation and ensures reliable signal routing in process 

automation environments.

Core Functionality

●Field Wiring Termination: Serves as an interface to connect field signals to S800 I/O modules, 

supporting up to 8 isolated channels for discrete I/O signals.

●ModuleBus Distribution: Distributes the ModuleBus (the communication backbone for S800 I/O) to 

the connected I/O module and cascades it to the next TU811V1 MTU in the system.

●I/O Module Addressing: Generates the correct address for the paired I/O module by shifting 

outgoing position signals to the subsequent MTU, enabling sequential module identification.

●Mechanical Keying: Features two mechanical keys (each with 6 positions, totaling 36 configurations) 

to prevent incorrect insertion of incompatible I/O modules. This is a mechanical safeguard only and 

does not impact the functional performance of the MTU or I/O module.
