The FBM207 is a high-performance discrete input module belonging to the Foxboro Evo™ Process
Automation System, designed specifically for voltage monitoring applications in industrial settings. As
a key component of the system, it features 16 independent, galvanically isolated channels, each
engineered to accept 2-wire input signals from external DC voltage sources.
This module offers versatile voltage compatibility, supporting voltage monitoring at three critical
industrial levels: 60 V DC, 120 V AC/125 V DC, and 240 V AC. It also functions as a switch input
module, accommodating external power supplies of 120 V AC/125 V DC and 240 V AC. To match
different external voltage requirements, the FBM207 must be used with dedicated termination
assemblies (TAs), which provide essential signal conditioning—including voltage attenuation and
optical isolation—for input voltages exceeding 60 V DC, ensuring signal integrity and module
protection.
A standout feature of the FBM207 is its flexible deployment capability: it can operate as a standalone
unit for standard applications or be configured as a redundant pair for mission-critical control
schemes. In redundant setups, two FBM207 modules connect to a common termination assembly via
a redundant adapter on the baseplate, enabling seamless failover. The Foxboro Evo™ Control
Software’s redundant digital input block validates input signals from both modules and selects the
highest-quality data for control strategy execution, ensuring uninterrupted operation. Additionally,
the module’s contact sense power is diode-OR’d in the redundant adapter to maintain reliable
power redundancy.
Beyond core signal acquisition, the FBM207 integrates multifunctional program execution, supporting
Discrete Input, Ladder Logic, Pulse Count, and Sequence of Events (SOE) applications with
configurable Input Filter Time. It handles the necessary signal conversion to interface field sensor
signals with the redundant 2 Mbps module Fieldbus, facilitating stable communication with the
system’s Fieldbus Communication Module (FCM) or Control Processor (FCP). Built with industrial
durability in mind, its rugged design and compatibility with harsh environment (Class G3) enclosures
make it ideal for demanding industrial control scenarios, delivering consistent performance across
diverse process automation applications.

The FBM207/b/c modules boast a space-saving compact form factor, paired with a rugged extruded
aluminum housing that delivers robust physical protection for internal circuit components. Enclosures
specifically engineered for FBM module installation offer tiered environmental shielding performance
—meeting the requirements of ISA Standard S71.04 and supporting reliable operation even in harsh
Class G3 industrial environments.
The FBM207/b/c modules connect to the redundant 2 Mbps module fieldbus via either a Fieldbus
Communications Module (FCM) or a Control Processor (CP). Engineered to leverage the fieldbus’s
redundant architecture, each module is capable of receiving and transmitting data through either
Path A or Path B of the 2 Mbps fieldbus. In the event of a path failure or system-initiated path switch,
the module seamlessly switches to the active path to maintain uninterrupted communication,
ensuring consistent data exchange between field devices and the central control system.
