user manual. Set appropriate parameters for differential expansion measurement, such as
measurement range, sensitivity, and any necessary calibration factors. Incorrect configuration
may lead to misinterpretation of the measured values, which could result in failure to detect
abnormal expansion in time.
Monitoring Readings: Regularly monitor the differential expansion readings provided by the
3300/45. Be familiar with the normal operating range of the machinery being monitored. Sudden
or significant changes in these values may indicate mechanical problems, such as excessive
thermal expansion or misalignment between the rotor and stator. The monitor is crucial for early
detection of machine faults related to differential expansion.
Relay and Alarm Settings: Understand the relay operation and alarm settings. The 3300/45 may
have relays for alerting when the differential expansion exceeds certain thresholds. Configure the
alert and danger setpoints based on the machinery's requirements. Also, be aware of the time
delays associated with these alarms to avoid false alarms or delays in detecting real issues.
The Bently Nevada 3300/45 is a dual-channel differential expansion monitor, designed for real-time
tracking of rotor-to-stator differential expansion in rotating machinery. 3300/45 offers redundant 2-
channel (A/B) monitoring to enhance protection reliability, with configurable alert/danger setpoints
and time delays to match equipment needs.
Equipped with front-panel meters for gap voltage and expansion value display, 3300/45 also features
OK relays, alarm relays (latching/non-latching options), and buffered outputs for external systems.
Suitable for turbines, generators, and compressors, 3300/45 ensures early detection of abnormal
expansion, preventing machinery damage and supporting safe operation.
