1. Product Introduction

The 3300/48 Case Expansion Monitor is a specialized component of Bently Nevada’s Asset Condition Monitoring portfolio, designed to measure machinery casing growth (expansion) relative to the machine foundation using Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs). It enables early detection of thermal or mechanical changes in critical rotating equipment (e.g., turbines, compressors).

2.1 Measurement Principle & Inputs

LVDT Compatibility: Uses two DC Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) to measure casing expansion relative to the machine foundation.

Differential & Independent Monitoring:

Differential Mode: Measures the difference between the two LVDT signals (supports alarm setpoints).

Independent Channel Mode: Monitors two separate casing expansion channels (no alarms in this mode).

2.2 Configuration & Alarms

Digitally Adjustable Alarms: Two user-configurable alarm setpoints for differential measurements, enabling proactive alerts for abnormal casing expansion.

Front-Panel Interface: Features analog meters for real-time expansion visualization, status LEDs (OK, ALERT, DANGER, BYPASS), and buffered outputs for signal distribution.

3. Application Suitability
