The Honeywell 10024/I/F is an Enhanced Communication Module (ECM) integrated into the FSC (Fail-
Safe Control) system, designed for dual-core communication tasks. It enables external data exchange
with RS485/RS422-compatible devices via the I-interface and connects with external devices
supporting Tri-state RS232C through the F-interface, serving as a critical communication hub in
industrial control systems. Equipped with a dedicated on-board processor and memory, it offloads
communication tasks from the FSC central processor, ensuring reliable and efficient data transmission
in mission-critical environments such as oil & gas and chemical processing. The module supports
multiple communication protocols including FSC-FSC, ModBus RTU/H&B, and RKE3964R, along with
sequence-of-event recording (SER) and report generation to adapt to complex industrial workflows. It
adheres to strict safety and compliance standards (CE, UL, TÜV) and is compatible with FSC software
versions ≥ 2.78f (configuration software ≥ 530), meeting the requirements of safety-related
applications.

The 10024/I/F has a modular design with a main board (10024/1/1) and two interfaces. The main
board includes a dedicated communication processor, 8 Mbit flash memory (supports EPROMs like
27C512), and jumpers (J1/J2 for COM number, J3 for program source, J4/J5 for EPROM type). It
occupies 8 TE (8 HP) horizontal and 3 HE (3U) vertical rack space, runs on 5 Vdc (650 mA current, <50
mV p-p ripple), and operates in 0°C-60°C, ≤95% RH (non-condensing) environments.
The I-interface (isolated RS485/RS422) enables external communication (e.g., with user
stations/DCSs), offering >6 kV isolation, up to 2 Mbaud (60 m max cable), male 9-pin connector,
watchdog circuit, and supports 16 I-interfaces per system. The F-interface (Tri-state RS232C) connects
external devices, with >6 kV isolation, up to 38.4 kbaud (15 m/10 m cable), female 9-pin connector,
and watchdog circuit.
For integration, it needs a system bus (7-SBUS/12-SBUS/17-SBUS) jumper removed, meets EMC
standards (EN 50081-2/EN 50082-2), has CE/UL/TÜV approvals (part number 10024/I/F 27100), and
must not be hot-swapped.
