These two drives share the same 400 V supply class but serve different power levels and different motor control tasks.

What This Check Confirms

Before installation or replacement, verify three values.

First, voltage. Both drives require a 3-phase 400 V supply. A 230 V single-phase supply will not work.

Second, power. The E82EV302-4C is a 3.0 kW class drive. The E94P050T4NEM is a 5.0 kW class drive. They are not interchangeable for the same motor.

Third, IP rating. Both are IP20. They must be installed inside a protected control cabinet.

If you are using both drives in one panel, the power and voltage check is simple. The load check is different. The E82EV302-4C runs a standard three-phase motor. The E94P050T4NEM typically controls a servo motor with feedback.

Voltage Check Procedure

Step 1. Read the nameplate on the drive side panel.

Step 2. Confirm input voltage marking: 3 AC 400 V.

Step 3. Check the connected supply. The incoming voltage must be within the drive tolerance.

Step 4. If the supply is 380 V, 400 V, or 415 V, standard industrial systems usually can run. If the supply is 230 V single phase, stop and source the correct drive version.

Step 5. Check the motor and drive voltage class match. A 400 V drive needs a 400 V motor winding configuration.

For multi-drive panels, do not add kW only. Add the actual input currents and size fuses, breakers, and wiring separately for each drive.

Power Check Procedure

Power class is not the only selection factor. Output current is more important.

For the E82EV302-4C, check the motor full load current against the drive output current. If the motor current exceeds the drive rating, the drive will trip on overcurrent or overheat.

For the E94P050T4NEM, the same rule applies. A 5.0 kW class drive cannot automatically run every 5.0 kW motor. The servo motor current, speed range, and dynamic load matter.

If you replace an E82EV302-4C with an E94P050T4NEM, do not assume it is a direct upgrade. The E94P050T4NEM is designed for servo loops. It is not a standard VFD replacement for a simple induction motor conveyor drive.

IP Rating and Installation Limits

Both drives are IP20.

IP20 means:
– Protection against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm
– No protection against water or moisture

These drives are not field-mountable. They belong in a control cabinet.

Recommended installation:
– Cabinet protection: IP54 or higher in normal factory environments
– Ambient temperature: typically 0 °C to 40 °C for continuous rated load
– Derating: reduce output current above 40 °C
– Altitude: derate above 1000 m
– Clearance: 100 mm above and below the drive, 50 mm side clearance

In dusty, humid, or corrosive areas, use cabinet air filtration or sealed cooling.

Pairing E82EV302-4C and E94P050T4NEM

One common machine application: the E82EV302-4C runs the main conveyor or feed roll, while the E94P050T4NEM runs a servo axis for positioning or tension control.

That combination works well because both drives use the same 400 V panel supply. But panel design must cover:
– Separate line protection for each drive
– Separate fuses or MCBs sized to each input current
– Inrush current when energizing both drives
– Heat load from two drives in one cabinet
– Cable spacing between power and encoder cables

Do not share a single motor between these two drives without proper switching and interlock.

Replacement and Buying Checklist

When confirming a replacement, prepare this data:
– Complete drive model code from the nameplate
– Serial number
– Firmware version, if visible
– Mounting dimensions and connector arrangement
– Type of motor connected
– Required option cards: fieldbus, encoder, brake, keypad

For the E82EV302-4C, older 8200 vector units may have different firmware and keypad versions. For the E94P050T4NEM, check the exact option suffix and whether safety functions such as STO are required.

Do not buy on power class alone. A 5.0 kW E94P050T4NEM and a 3.0 kW E82EV302-4C are both 400 V IP20 drives, but they have different control behavior, motor compatibility, and commissioning requirements.
