Bently Nevada 3500/25 Enhanced Keyphasor Module - Technical Overview
1. Product Introduction
The 3500/25 Enhanced Keyphasor Module is a half-height, dual-channel component of Bently Nevada’s 3500 Machinery Protection System. It converts mechanical timing signals (from proximity probes or magnetic pickups) into digital Keyphasor signals, enabling precise measurement of shaft speed, vibration phase, and other critical rotational parameters.

2. Core Functionalities
2.1 Signal Conversion & Distribution
Input Compatibility: Accepts signals from proximity probes or magnetic pickups, converting them into digital Keyphasor pulses (once-per-turn or multi-event-per-turn signals).
Rack Integration: Supplies Keyphasor signals to monitor modules in a 3500 rack. The system supports up to 4 Keyphasor signals in normal configurations and 8 in paired setups.
2.2 Keyphasor Signal Role
A Keyphasor signal is a timed pulse from a rotating shaft/gear, used to:
Measure shaft rotational speed.
Enable diagnostic equipment to calculate vibration amplitude and phase (e.g., 1X vibration vector parameters).
2.3 Enhanced Capabilities
Backward Compatibility: Maintains form, fit, and function with legacy Keyphasor modules (e.g., PWA 125792-01), while offering expanded signal processing features.
TMR Support: For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, two Keyphasor modules operate in parallel to provide primary and secondary signals, ensuring redundancy.
3. Application Suitability
Critical for rotating machinery (turbines, pumps, compressors) where precise speed and vibration phase measurement is essential. Enables:
Accurate diagnosis of rotational faults (imbalance, misalignment).
Synchronized data for advanced condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
