The Honeywell 10024/I/I is an Enhanced Communication Module (ECM) integrated into the FSC (Fail-
Safe Control) system, designed for dual-channel external communication. It features two isolated
RS485/RS422 interfaces to enable data exchange with compatible devices such as FSC user stations,
DCSs, or other FSC systems, supporting multi-drop simplex/duplex communication with up to 15
slaves per interface. Equipped with a dedicated on-board processor and 8 Mbit flash memory
(supporting EPROMs), it offloads communication tasks from the FSC central processor, ensuring
reliable transmission in mission-critical industrial environments. It supports protocols including FSC-
FSC, ModBus RTU/H&B, and RKE3964R, along with SER and report generation, adhering to CE, UL,
TÜV standards and compatible with FSC software ≥ 2.78f (configuration software ≥ 530).

Hardware & Interface Details
The 10024/I/I has a modular design with a main board (10024/1/1) and two identical I-interfaces
(isolated RS485/RS422). The main board includes a dedicated communication processor, 8 Mbit flash
memory (supports 27C512/27C1001/27C2001 EPROMs with 150 ns max access time), and
configuration jumpers (J1/J2 for COM number, J3 for program source, J4/J5 for EPROM type). It
occupies 8 TE (8 HP) horizontal and 3 HE (3U) vertical rack space, requires two consecutive card slots
in the FSC Central Part rack, operates on 5 Vdc (850 mA current, <50 mV p-p ripple), and functions in
0°C-60°C, ≤95% RH (non-condensing) environments with EMI resistance. Each I-interface provides >6
kV galvanic isolation per IEC 61010 (VDE 0160/0110) to prevent ground loops and EMI, includes a
watchdog circuit for communication line protection, supports up to 2 Mbaud (60 m max cable at 2
Mbaud, 1.2 km at ≤100 kbaud) with RS485/RS422-compliant cables, and uses a male 9-pin DIN 41612
Type F connector. A maximum of 16 I-interfaces can be integrated in one system. For integration, the
module requires removal of the corresponding jumper on the FSC Central Part system bus (7-
SBUS/12-SBUS/17-SBUS), meets EMC standards (EN 50081-2/EN 50082-2), has a part number of
10024/I/I 27300, and must not be hot-swapped.
