The Bently Nevada 3300/48 Case Expansion Monitor utilizes two DC Linear Variable Differential
Transformers (LVDTs) to measure casing growth relative to the machine foundation. It calculates
the difference between the two transducers’ readings and features two digitally adjustable alarm
setpoints for this measurement. The monitor offers two selectable display modes: one showing two
independent channels of case expansion, and the other displaying the differential measurement
between the two channels—with alarms only functional in the Differential mode.

Product Testing

values of case expansion and the differential measurement between the two channels. The alarm
functions are also tested extensively. Different expansion scenarios are simulated to verify that
the alarms are activated only when the measured values cross the predefined alarm setpoints,
and that the alarm indication (such as LED lights or relay outputs) functions as expected.
Environmental Testing: The 3300/48 monitor is subjected to environmental tests to ensure its
reliability in various operating conditions. This may include temperature cycling tests, where the
monitor is exposed to a range of temperatures (e.g., from - 20°C to 60°C) to check for any
performance degradation. Humidity tests are also conducted to ensure that the monitor can
operate correctly in high - humidity environments (up to a specified relative humidity, such as
95% non - condensing). Vibration tests are performed to simulate the mechanical vibrations that
the monitor may experience during its installation on industrial machinery.
